Body Found in Search for Missing Mum Who Disappeared During Walk in Doncaster

A body has been discovered in the search for missing mother Christine Stenson, who vanished more than two weeks ago while out for a walk. Christine, 66, disappeared on August 12, with CCTV footage showing her last seen in the Wheatley area of Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

Christine was reportedly dropped off at an address on Hawke Road around 5:05 pm that day. South Yorkshire Police believe she left the location on foot within five minutes. Later, CCTV captured her walking along Cantley Lane at 5:57 pm, heading toward Rose Hill Cemetery, reported The Sun.

Earlier that day, Christine had met up with her sister for coffee and lunch. Her disappearance sparked a widespread search and appeals to the public for information. In an update this afternoon, police shared the tragic news on social media: “Officers searching for missing 66-year-old woman Christine, who was last seen on Monday 12 August, have today (Tuesday 27 August) found a body. While formal identification is yet to take place, officers believe it to be that of Christine.”

The statement continued, “Her family has been informed and continues to be supported by officers at this time. We want to take this opportunity to thank the public who have been incredibly supportive in sharing our appeals about Christine’s disappearance and for passing on information to assist our inquiry.”

The police also extended their gratitude to their partners, including Lowland Rescue, who assisted with the search efforts. “Our thoughts are with Christine’s loved ones at this difficult time,” the statement concluded.

Prior to the discovery, South Yorkshire Police Detective Superintendent Eleanor Welsh spoke of the deep impact Christine’s disappearance had on her family. “Christine has a husband, Glen, a daughter called Lisa, and siblings in Gary, Gillian, Paul, and Sandra—all of whom have been left heartbroken by Christine’s disappearance,” she said.

The tragic conclusion to the search brings an end to the uncertainty surrounding Christine’s fate, but her loss has left a profound void for her grieving family and community.
