31-Year-Old Mum Allegedly Chokes to Death on a Slice of Pizza as Restaurant CCTV Captures Harrowing Tragedy

A mum-of-two has tragically died after choking on a slice of pizza at the restaurant where she worked, leaving her colleagues and community in utter shock. Paulina Wanat, just 31, had been working at Ristorante Taormina in Oświęcim, near Krakow in Poland when the horrific accident happened. She was seen on CCTV taking a bite of pizza before suddenly starting to vomit. Moments later, she ran to the bathroom, clearly in distress, but collapsed on her way back into the restaurant.

Her colleagues, visibly shaken, rushed to help. Some phoned emergency services while others began performing CPR right there on the floor, desperately trying to keep her alive. Paramedics and firefighters arrived quickly and took over the resuscitation efforts, but despite everything, Paulina never regained consciousness, reported the Mirror.

She was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, but doctors later declared her brain dead. Her death was confirmed on Friday, devastating those who knew and loved her. Paulina’s story has touched hearts far and wide—not only because of the sudden and heartbreaking nature of her death but because of the life she led. She was a single mum raising her five-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son entirely on her own. Her sister-in-law Sylwia shared how determined and hardworking she was.

“She sometimes worked three jobs at once to provide everything for her children. The boy requires rehabilitation. He has hearing loss, suffers from muscle tension,” Sylwia said.

Paulina had only been working at the pizzeria for six months, but in that short time, she’d made a big impact. A spokesperson for Ristorante Taormina paid tribute to her, saying: “Always full of smiles, commitment, and positive energy, she made this place more than just a job. She created an atmosphere of warmth and kindness.”
