Twin Girls Left Orphaned After ‘Super Mum’, 33, Passes Away Just 18 Months After Dad’s Death

Hannah Whittall, a beloved mum of twin daughters Isabelle and Emmy, tragically passed away from breast cancer just months after receiving the all-clear. The 33-year-old, who had initially discovered a lump under her arm, fought an incredibly brave battle against cancer, undergoing chemotherapy and a double mastectomy in 2024. After the surgery and treatment, Hannah received the news on September 12 that she was cancer-free, bringing relief to her family who were hopeful for her recovery.

However, just one month later, the cancer returned, and this time, it had spread to her bones. In December, Hannah was admitted to the hospital with fluid in her lungs and pneumonia, as reported by the Manchester Evening News. Despite her deteriorating health, she was able to return home to spend one final Christmas with her daughters, holding onto the precious moments with them.

Sadly, Hannah’s condition worsened, and she was readmitted to the hospital with complications from pneumonia, the HMPV virus, and sepsis. Surrounded by loved ones, including her twin daughters, Hannah passed away on January 14, 2025. Her brother, Thomas, spoke to BirminghamLive, sharing the heartbreaking final moments with her daughters by her side. “They loved their mum and didn’t spend more than two days away from Hannah,” he said. “They were obsessed with her.”

The twins, who had already tragically lost their father to pneumonia in May 2023, now face the unimaginable reality of being orphans. Thomas shared that his nieces were devastated by the loss, saying, “After losing their dad, Hannah was their world – she was such a good mum. She did everything with them and took them everywhere.”

Thomas described the painful toll cancer took on Hannah, noting how “extremely frail” she became as the disease progressed. “It is so rare how aggressive the cancer came back, and the treatments just weren’t working,” he added. Despite the hardship, the twins continued to express their love, sitting by their mum’s bedside and thanking her for everything she had done for them.

In the wake of Hannah’s passing, Thomas has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help care for Isabelle and Emmy, raising nearly £30,000 in just a few days. He expressed his gratitude for the support, saying, “It just shows that people do care.” He hopes that sharing his sister’s story will raise awareness of cancer and help prevent others from experiencing the same tragic fate.

As a tribute to his late sister, Thomas plans to give his unborn daughter the middle name Grace, in memory of Hannah.
