Mum Brutally Attacked Outside Lidl in Broad Daylight

A mum from Ashton-under-Lyne has been left traumatised after a brutal and unprovoked attack outside a Lidl store – and police have now launched an urgent investigation.

Daniella Fysh, 40, was walking home with a friend last Monday after picking up some bits from Lidl when things took a terrifying turn. The pair cut through a nearby car park off Old Street, near the Ashton Primary Care Centre – a usual shortcut for Daniella – when she was suddenly struck over the head by a stranger.

Everything after that moment is a blur. Daniella says her memory was wiped the second her head hit the ground. She was knocked unconscious and only came around in the back of an ambulance, covered in blood and completely dazed.

“I remembered seeing a white man and the next thing I knew I was in the ambulance going to hospital. I was knocked unconscious so I don’t recall anything else,” she told the Manchester Evening News.

She was rushed to hospital where doctors treated a deep head wound and stitched her lip back together – she needed 20 stitches in total and is also being treated for concussion. Her attacker remains at large, and Greater Manchester Police have confirmed an investigation is now underway.

The attack happened in broad daylight and came completely out of the blue. Daniella, originally from Hampshire but now living in Tameside, says it could’ve been fatal if the victim was someone more vulnerable.

“I just don’t want this happening to somebody else,” she said. “This could have been an elderly or vulnerable person, and it would’ve been game over.”

Her friend witnessed the shocking moment and chased after the man, but quickly turned back after spotting Daniella lying in a pool of blood on the ground.

“I don’t know if they punched me or used a weapon, but I fell backwards and cut my head open. I was in a heap on the floor,” she added.

Determined not to stay silent, the mum-of-one has taken to social media to share graphic photos of her injuries and warn others. Since then, she says locals have messaged her with similar stories of attacks in the same area.

“Since I posted it on Facebook, people have contacted me to say it’s happened a few times in the area. It was completely unprovoked,” she said.

Despite the horror of what happened, Daniella is staying strong – especially as she’s been working hard on her mental health.

“I suffer from mental health issues – so this has definitely been a test for me. I am doing a lot of work to get myself better and I am made of strong stuff and won’t let this beat me,” she said. “I will feel better knowing that this man has been caught and is not on the streets.”

Police urge anyone with information to come forward as they continue their investigation.
