Mum and Baby Narrowly Escape Death in Huddersfield Shooting Incident

A mother and her eight-month-old baby narrowly escaped death after they were shot at while in their home in Huddersfield. The terrifying incident occurred on November 22, when the two were relaxing in their living room at their home in Bridge Croft, Milnsbridge.

The mother had just moved her baby boy from the sofa to a high chair when they heard a loud noise, followed by the shocking sight of their window “exploding.” The bullet lodged into the double-glazed window of their living room, just inches from where the baby had been moments before, according to Metro.co.uk.

“I could not believe it, that it happened to my house and to my kids,” the mother told YorkshireLive. “I was shocked and scared because I had my eight-month-old here.”

Fortunately, both the mother and her baby were unharmed, though the incident left them shaken. Armed officers were quickly dispatched to the scene, and a man has been arrested in connection to the shooting. The suspect has since been released on bail.

Authorities confirmed that the damage to the window was consistent with a gunshot. The mother’s lounge window remains boarded up, and she is now planning to move out for her own safety.

Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson commented on the seriousness of the incident, stating, “The criminal use of firearms on our streets is always something we treat extremely seriously. We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and to identify those responsible.”

Atkinson also appealed for witnesses, adding, “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any part of the incident or who saw the suspect arriving at or leaving the scene on a bicycle.” The police are working closely with local authorities to reassure the community in light of this disturbing event.

For the family, this near-tragedy has left an emotional toll, and the mother hopes to relocate as soon as possible to escape the trauma.
