Monster Dad Who Burned His Kids to Death Gets Vicious Prison Justice

Convicted child killer Mick Philpott has reportedly been left “battered and bruised” after a vicious prison ambush at HMP Wakefield – in what insiders are calling the worst attack he’s faced since his imprisonment.
Philpott, now 68, was sentenced to life in 2013 after a horrifying house fire he started killed six of his children in a twisted revenge plot against his ex-lover. The blaze, which destroyed their Derby family home, shocked the nation and sealed Philpott’s infamy as one of Britain’s most hated criminals.
But now, more than a decade on, justice appears to have come calling once again – this time inside prison walls.
According to The Sun, Philpott was attacked by a younger inmate armed with a metal container or flask, who repeatedly struck him from behind, leaving him with two large lumps on his head.
“Philpott was in a bad way after the attack – battered and bruised and with two large and noticeable lumps on the back of his head,” a prison source revealed.
“It was one bloke on his own… someone quite a bit younger than Philpott and it happened really quickly on the landing.”
The sudden assault caused a “huge commotion”, and only ended when guards rushed in after an emergency alarm was triggered. Fortunately for Philpott, prison staff were able to treat him inside the jail, avoiding the public spectacle of a hospital transfer.

“That is the last thing bosses would have wanted because he is so notorious and would have attracted attention,” the source explained.
Security around Philpott has since been increased, with frequent checks and tighter monitoring of his movements within the prison. The attacker is believed to have been motivated by notoriety, aiming to make a name for himself by targeting one of the most reviled prisoners in Britain.
“He is the lowest of the low, even in prison, so has always got a target on his back,” the source added. “People were laughing about the attack after it happened. He’s a child killer at the end of the day so no-one felt sorry for him.”
Philpott, once known as a jobless benefits scrounger who fathered 17 children by five different women, became a household name for all the wrong reasons after the 2012 Derby house fire. The plot, intended to frame his ex-partner and win a custody battle (and possibly a larger home), spiralled out of control when the petrol-fuelled blaze consumed the house.
Jade (10), John (9), Jack (8), Jesse (6), Jayden (5), and Duwayne (13) all died in the inferno. Philpott and his wife Mairead – who helped him plan the fire – failed to rescue the children as promised in their twisted plan.
Philpott was jailed for life, with a minimum term of 15 years, meaning he could be eligible for parole in 2027. Mairead and their friend Paul Mosley, who also played a role in the fire, were each sentenced to 17 years but have since been released.
A Prison Service spokesperson has confirmed the attack and said:
“Violence will not be tolerated in the prison estate and anyone found guilty of wrongdoing will be punished.”
But for many, the real punishment for Philpott seems to have just begun — not at the hands of the justice system, but from behind bars.
