Michelle Keegan’s past remarks about her husband Mark Wright’s former relationship with Lauren Goodger have resurfaced, just as she and Mark announced they’re expecting their first child. The resurfaced comments have reignited interest in the long-standing tensions between Michelle and Lauren, adding drama to the joyous baby news.
Mark Wright and Lauren Goodger, former stars of The Only Way Is Essex, had an on-again, off-again relationship for 12 years before breaking up for good in 2012. Not long after, Mark began dating Michelle Keegan, and the pair married in 2015. Meanwhile, Lauren has often expressed that Mark was “the love of her life,” admitting their split left her heartbroken and believing she’d “never love anyone else.”
Michelle, however, hasn’t held back in the past when commenting on Mark’s prior relationship. In 2014, during a social media Q&A, Lauren made a sly remark about their breakup, claiming she had made the “Wright choice.” Mark fired back in a scathing tweet, defending Michelle: “It’s been well over two years and it still continues. I find it so disrespectful to myself but more importantly, my fiancé. Be a proper woman. Please leave me out of your public conversations, stop embarrassing yourself. Start having some respect and MOVE ON.”
Now happily married for nearly a decade, Mark and Michelle are gearing up to welcome their first child in 2025. Announcing the news on Instagram, Michelle shared a sweet photo of herself cradling her baby bump on the beach with Mark by her side, captioned: “2025 is going to be a special one for us…” Mark’s family expressed their excitement, with his brother Josh saying he was “over the moon” and their mother sharing her joy about another grandchild.
The couple’s announcement comes after years of public speculation about their plans to start a family, a milestone Michelle has long dreamed of, once saying: “I’ve always been broody. I love kids, and I want four, so hopefully in the near future.”
