Met Office Forecasts Snowfall Dates and Regions for This Week

The Met Office has outlined the days and regions expected to see snow this week, with a focus on London and the south-east. Monday, January 8, is forecasted to start with snow flurries, leading the Met Office to issue a yellow warning for ice across southern England and South Wales, effective from Monday afternoon to early Tuesday.

Heavier snow showers are anticipated in some areas, with 1-3cm of snow expected over the North Downs. Residents in Greater London, Kent, Surrey, East Sussex, and West Sussex are advised to be cautious due to predicted icy conditions and wintry showers.

The weather warning highlights a mix of sleet and snow showers moving in from the east on Sunday night, with temperatures near freezing. This, coupled with wet surfaces from recent weather, increases the likelihood of icy patches on untreated surfaces.

Monday’s forecast includes early morning fog, clearing by midday, with sporadic wintry showers across the South East and a noticeable chill across the UK. A fresh northeasterly breeze is expected in the South.

Wintry showers are also predicted for Tuesday morning in the South West and in the North East. On Wednesday, January 10, light rain in northern areas may turn wintry, especially over higher ground, with another light snowfall expected.
