Meghan Markle’s Assertion That Late Queen Met Princess Lilibet Brutally Dismissed in Six Words

In a bold and contentious claim, friends of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have asserted that the late Queen Elizabeth II was introduced to their daughter, Princess Lilibet, over a video call shortly after her birth on June 4, 2021. This assertion, however, faced a blunt rebuttal from a Palace insider, effectively dismissing the claim with a succinct six-word statement: “No video call has taken place.”

According to a report by the Daily Express, the insider accused the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s associates of providing “misleading briefings” to US journalists following the birth of their daughter. The source added, “This is about whether or not what is being reported is an accurate version of what actually happened.”

Princess Lilibet, who is seventh in line to the British throne, was named after her great-grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. “Lilibet” was a private nickname the Queen had since childhood, used by those closest to her when she struggled to pronounce her full name.

Harry and Meghan purportedly sought the late Queen’s approval to use the name Lilibet. A spokesperson for the couple told the New York Post that Harry had discussed his wish to name his daughter in honor of his grandmother and would not have used the name without her blessing. However, a Palace source countered this, telling the BBC that the conversation was more of “a telling, not an asking,” which led to a legal challenge from Harry and Meghan’s lawyers, branding the BBC’s story as “defamatory.” Buckingham Palace chose not to comment on these claims at the time.

Lilibet’s middle name, Diana, pays tribute to Harry’s late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. This follows a tradition also observed by Prince William and Kate Middleton, who named their daughter, Princess Charlotte, with the middle names Diana and Elizabeth.

The birth of Lilibet was joyously announced through a statement on Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Foundation website, reading: “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.”

The Sussex family now resides in Montecito, California, where they raise Lilibet and her older brother Archie, aged five, with the support of Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. Although the couple has largely shielded their children from the media spotlight, they have occasionally shared glimpses into their family life.

The conflicting narratives about whether a video call introduction between the late Queen and Lilibet actually occurred underscore the ongoing tensions between the Sussexes and the Royal Family. These disputes continue to draw public and media scrutiny, reflecting the complex dynamics and challenges that the family faces.

As Lilibet celebrates her third birthday on June 4, the controversy surrounding her name and the alleged video call serves as a reminder of the persistent friction and heightened interest in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decisions and their relationship with the monarchy.

The evolving story of Harry, Meghan, and their children is emblematic of broader issues within the Royal Family, including privacy, tradition, and the modern pressures of public life. Each new claim and counterclaim adds another layer to the intricate and often contentious tapestry of their lives, keeping the world watching and speculating on the future of this high-profile family.
