Netflix boss breaks silence on Meghan Markle amid lifestyle show criticism

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos has voiced his support for Meghan Markle amid criticism of her new series, With Love, Meghan. Speaking with Variety Magazine, Sarandos highlighted the Duchess of Sussex’s lasting cultural impact, despite the ongoing backlash she faces.
He emphasized that Meghan’s influence is often “undervalued,” citing the intense media attention surrounding her every move. “When we released the trailer for Harry & Meghan, every detail on-screen was dissected in the media for days,” Sarandos noted.
“The shoes she was wearing sold out all over the world. The Hermès blanket that was on the chair behind her sold out everywhere in the world. People are fascinated with Meghan Markle,” he continued, adding that both Meghan and Prince Harry “are often unfairly dismissed.”
It is worth mentioning that With Love, Meghan has received mixed reactions from viewers, with some praising its heartfelt storytelling while others criticize it as unoriginal or lacking depth. Despite the backlash, Meghan remains focused on expanding her media presence.
The Netflix series has already been renewed for a second season, demonstrating the streaming giant’s continued investment in her brand. Additionally, the Duchess of Sussex is set to launch a new podcast titled Confessions of a Female Founder, which she announced on March 14.
As Meghan continues to build her career in media, support from Netflix leadership signals that she remains a valuable figure in the entertainment world, regardless of the criticism she faces.
