According to Scobie, Harry and Meghan Markle were in the United States when they received the news, completely unaware of the preparations being made in anticipation of the Queen’s passing. Upon receiving a call from his father, Prince Charles, urging him to immediately travel to Balmoral, Harry attempted to coordinate plans with his brother, Prince William.

However, his attempts to reach William were reportedly unsuccessful. Scobie alleges that William had already arranged travel with uncles Andrew and Edward, along with Edward’s wife, Sophie. Despite Harry’s attempts to join their flights, he was unable to make contact with anyone, reported Mirror.

Subsequent calls from Charles clarified that Harry should come alone, despite previous arrangements that Meghan would accompany him. Allegedly citing ‘protocol,’ Charles assured Harry that Kate Middleton would also not be present. A former Palace aide is quoted in the book saying, “They just didn’t want Meghan there,” emphasizing a palpable tension.
