Meghan Markle under fire for using royal title again

Meghan Markle is facing fresh criticism after sharing a message on Instagram that referred to her using the royal title “Your Royal Highness”—a title she and Prince Harry agreed to stop using after stepping down as working royals in 2020.
The message came from Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister, Yulia Svyrydenko, thanking Meghan and her family for their support following Prince Harry’s recent visit to the war-torn country. Harry, who made a surprise trip to Lviv last week, visited the Superhumans Centre—a facility helping injured civilians and veterans recover with prosthetics, therapy, and mental health support. He met with patients and staff, bringing a message of solidarity and encouragement, and was gifted a basket of Easter bread to take back home to Meghan and their kids, reported the Daily Record.
Over the weekend, Meghan shared a sweet Instagram story of their daughter Princess Lilibet slicing the bread for breakfast. The gesture may have seemed innocent enough, but the note from Svyrydenko began with “Your Royal Highness,” and that’s what got people talking.

Given the agreement made during the couple’s royal exit, many are now questioning why Meghan chose to share a message that included a title she no longer officially holds. As reported by The Mirror, one palace insider told the Daily Beast: “The deal with the HRH was a way to stop them cashing in while letting them walk away with pride and dignity and trust, and now Markle is using her HRH on a website which seems to exist to sell jam.”
Meanwhile, Meghan has been keeping busy online. Her Instagram has featured Easter-themed posts, including her garden harvest—showcasing flowers, fruit, and fresh eggs—with a caption that read, “That means it is almost Easter.”
She’s also promoting holiday-themed children’s items through her ShopMy account, where followers can buy curated products linked to Meghan’s lifestyle. Her latest Easter edit includes a £19 kids’ gardening kit, a £15 Easter bunny box filled with mini eggs, and a Lego bunny set, also £15. She’s even spotlighted high-end children’s fashion, like a £200 boys’ outfit from J Crew and a £58 floral dress from Trotters.
But it’s not the Easter vibes that have got everyone talking—it’s that royal title. Even if the Ukrainian official wasn’t aware of Meghan’s title status, critics argue that choosing to repost it just stirs up controversy she’s promised to leave behind.
