Matalan Dedicates £35 Million to Reduce Prices on Over 700 Essentials Amid Cost-of-Living Crisis

Matalan, a renowned fashion and homeware brand, has announced a significant investment of £35 million to lower the prices of over 700 essential products. This move aims to ease the financial burden on families grappling with the rising cost of living.

The price reductions, which began in January and are available both online and in stores, span all core categories. Customers can expect an average price drop of 15% across both core and new lines, with some items seeing reductions up to 25%.

Jo Whitfield, CEO of Matalan, highlighted the company’s ability to unlock efficiencies during a period of falling inflation and input costs, allowing them to transfer these savings directly to consumers. The price cuts cover a range of products, including popular women’s items like denim, leisurewear, and basics, as well as men’s and kids’ essentials, baby products, bedding, bathroom necessities, and home storage.

For instance, women’s hoodies have been reduced from £15 to £12.50, boys’ hoodies from £13 to £10, and men’s straight-cut jeans are now £10, down from £11. Bedding sets have also seen a £3 reduction across various sizes.

To promote these new prices, Matalan is launching a comprehensive marketing campaign, encompassing digital and in-store initiatives. The discounted prices are effective immediately and can be accessed online and at all Matalan locations throughout the UK.
