Three Masked Men Use Grinder to Steal Cash from Safe at Forkhill Filling Station

In Forkhill, a daring burglary at a local filling station has prompted a police investigation. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, January 12th, between 1:45 am and 3:30 am on Carrickasticken Road.

The perpetrators, three men wearing face masks and hoods, forcefully entered the kiosk situated in the station’s forecourt. Using a grinder, they breached the safe, making away with a substantial sum of money. The audacity and preparedness of the crime, involving the use of a grinder to access the safe, have raised concerns in the community.

Sergeant Scott McBride, overseeing the investigation, has issued a public appeal for assistance. “Our investigation is actively ongoing, and we urge anyone with information, especially those with mobile phone, CCTV, or dash-cam footage from the area around the time of the crime, to come forward,” he stated. The reference number for this case is 240 12/01/24, which should be quoted when providing information.

The police have also encouraged those who wish to remain anonymous to provide information through Crimestoppers, an independent charity, by calling 0800 555 111. This allows community members to share vital information without revealing their identity.

The community remains on high alert as the search for the suspects continues, with the police dedicating significant resources to the investigation. The incident has heightened awareness around security measures at local businesses, particularly those operating during the night.
