Macron Hints at Nuclear Action as He Warns of ‘Threat’ from Russia!
French President Emmanuel Macron is considering deploying France’s nuclear deterrent to protect Europe from potential Russian threats, a move that could significantly alter the continent’s security landscape.
In a televised address, Macron described Russia as a “threat to France and Europe” and revealed his plans to consult European allies on the matter.
“I have decided to open the strategic debate on the protection of our allies on the European continent by our [nuclear] deterrent,” he announced.
As the European Union’s only nuclear-armed state, France plays a critical role in the region’s defense strategy. The issue is set to be a major topic at an emergency summit in Brussels, where European leaders will also discuss military aid for Ukraine, reported Daily Express.
Macron underscored the importance of maintaining transatlantic ties but warned that Europe must be prepared to act independently in light of shifting U.S. policies, particularly in response to comments from former President Donald Trump.
His address coincided with the U.S. decision to halt intelligence sharing with Ukraine. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz confirmed the intelligence freeze, stating that aid could resume once Trump is assured of Ukraine’s commitment to peace.
With tensions escalating in Europe, Macron’s nuclear stance is likely to spark significant debate among NATO allies and European policymakers.
