Lorraine Kelly Breaks Silence on Rumors of Quitting Her ITV Show After 14 Years

Lorraine Kelly has spoken candidly about the possibility of stepping down from her ITV daytime show, which she has hosted for 14 years. The Scottish TV presenter shared with Woman’s Own magazine her thoughts on what it would take for her to retire from the 9 am to 10 am talk show role. “I’ve always said if the day comes when I don’t really want to go to work, I will stop,” Lorraine stated, suggesting that she is open to leaving when the time feels right.

Reflecting on recent joyful experiences, Lorraine shared that “this year has been amazing,” with the most “uplifting thing” being the birth of her granddaughter, Billie. She described her deep love for her family, saying, “I would live in the garden, in a hut, just to get cuddles.” The birth of Billie has brought her immense joy, but it has also sparked discussions on Lorraine’s show about the challenges of postpartum experiences, according to the Mirror.

Lorraine’s daughter, Rosie, recently appeared on her mother’s program, where she openly discussed her struggles with postpartum anxiety. Rosie, who has also appeared on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox, shared her personal journey. “I didn’t really know about postpartum anxiety,” Rosie admitted. “I think a lot of people say your hormones are mental, and you have all these feelings. I was very prepared to feel like, ‘I’m not good enough, I’m not doing well enough,’ but I wasn’t prepared for not feeling safe, as I thought, ‘That’s not normal.’”

During the heartfelt conversation, ITV’s resident medical expert Dr Hilary Jones joined Lorraine and Rosie to provide some reassurance. Dr Hilary, a regular on Good Morning Britain as well, explained that postpartum anxiety is more common than people think. “It is normal. 15 percent of women postnatally will feel anxious and worried about everything,” he said. Highlighting the physiological impact, he explained, “You have a new responsibility, but you’re also tired. You have sleep deprivation, and your hormones are taking a huge drop, and all of that has a huge influence physiologically on your body and on your mind. You’ll worry about everything—even Steve, the baby.”

Lorraine comforted her daughter by saying, “After six weeks, I feel the fog has lifted,” acknowledging the emotional journey Rosie has been on. As Lorraine enjoys her role as a grandmother, she seems open to the possibility of shifting her focus from her career to her family. Her reflections offer viewers a glimpse of her warmth as a mother and grandmother, as well as her dedication to being there for her family through every challenge.
