Lorraine Kelly Makes Shocking Personal Admission Live on Air as She ‘Snubs’ National Television Awards

Lorraine Kelly made a surprising personal admission during her latest live TV appearance, explaining why she will be “snubbing” the National Television Awards (NTAs) this year. The prestigious event, which takes place on Wednesday, September 11, at the O2 in London, will see many famous faces from the world of TV in attendance—but Lorraine, a long-standing figure in British television, won’t be walking the red carpet.

During the Wednesday episode of her self-titled ITV show, Lorraine, the 64-year-old Scottish broadcaster revealed she is opting out of the star-studded ceremony because she doesn’t feel confident enough to attend. Despite receiving an invite to the NTAs every year, Lorraine admitted that the pressure of the red carpet can be overwhelming, as per reports Manchester Evening News.

“It’s the NTAs and normally I would be going to that,” Lorraine confessed to guest Holly Matthews, who was promoting her new book, Find Your Confidence: The No-Nonsense Guide to Self-Belief. “I don’t know what it is, but I’m not feeling confident enough to go. That whole red carpet thing is sometimes really scary.”

Holly, 39, who has appeared on Byker Grove and Casualty, agreed, saying, “Yes, you have all the lights on you. And every day, men and women can feel as though they’re being watched, and that everybody is scrutinizing them, and that you’re not good enough.”

The confidence coach went on to offer practical advice for overcoming such feelings. “At that moment, it’s all about turning that outwards and focusing on conversations that you have with people and what’s going on around you,” she explained.

Lorraine praised Holly’s new book, saying, “This book really helps—it’s proper advice. It’s common sense.”

Holly, who lost her husband Ross to a rare brain tumour in 2017 when he was just 32, has since devoted her life to self-development work. Her new book, aimed at helping others find their confidence, is set to be released on Thursday, September 12.

While Lorraine won’t be attending the NTAs this year, her candid admission resonated with viewers, highlighting the pressure even seasoned professionals feel in the spotlight.
