Lorraine Kelly Hits Back Over ‘Outrageous’ News and Tells Viewers ‘Don’t Get Me Started’

Lorraine Kelly, 65, didn’t hold back her frustration on Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain as she weighed in on controversial plans to cut funding for school crossing patrols in Bristol. Hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls caught up with Lorraine for a preview of her ITV show, but the conversation quickly turned to current news headlines, sparking an animated response from the Scottish presenter.

Discussing Bristol City Council’s proposal to save £314,000 annually by scrapping lollipop patrols, Susanna joked that Lorraine was “up in arms” over the news. Lorraine passionately responded, “Lollipop people, what’s going on? I mean, for goodness’ sake, I know everyone’s got to make cutbacks, but there are some things that are sacred in this country, and it’s lollipop people”, reported by the Mirror.

Emphasizing her love for crossing guards, Lorraine continued, “Apart from the safety thing, it’s just, no! I love crossing over with a lollipop lady, or a lollipop man, I want them to stay!” The segment took a humorous turn when Ed pointed out that lollipop people are meant for children, to which Lorraine replied, “I know that, Ed, but I’m young at heart!”, reported by the Express.

The banter continued as Ed teased Lorraine further by asking her opinion on potholes. Lorraine laughed, exclaiming, “Potholes are outrageous, you know, listen, don’t get me started! You do not want to get me started!” Ed quipped, “I just got you started!” prompting Lorraine to retort, “You know which buttons to press! But stop this with the lollipop people.”

The show also featured a breaking news segment where hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls reported on the latest economic updates. Interrupting the program, Susanna announced, “So our breaking news this morning is on the economy. Official figures released in the last few minutes show that the inflation rate fell to 2.5% in December, down from 2.6% in November. So that is better news than city analysts had expected.”

Ed added his perspective, saying, “It comes at a time when the pound has plummeted and the cost of government borrowing has soared.”

The mix of Lorraine’s fiery opinions and the show’s live updates kept the audience entertained, proving yet again why Lorraine remains one of television’s most relatable and spirited personalities.
