Irish singer and beloved entertainer Linda Nolan, who passed away on January 15 at the age of 65, once revealed that her greatest regret in life was not having children with her late husband, Brian Hudson, reported by the Daily Mail. A statement from her agent confirmed that Linda died peacefully at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, surrounded by her loving siblings, after a 20-year battle with cancer.
The singer, first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, went into remission before the disease returned and spread to her liver and brain, ultimately leading to an incurable diagnosis. Reflecting on her life, Linda shared her deepest regret during a 2017 appearance on Loose Women. “It’s my only regret in life actually,” she admitted. “I think when you are facing a future with cancer, you do look back on your life and think, ‘Have I made the right decisions, have I done as much as I can do?’”
She continued, “I think me not having children is nobody’s fault but my own. I just let my career get in the way. When I thought about it, it was a little bit too late really.” Linda met Brian Hudson, the love of her life, in 1977. They married three years later but didn’t have children. Tragically, Brian was diagnosed with skin cancer and died in 2007 at the age of 60 after also suffering from liver failure. Linda described him as her soulmate and struggled with profound grief after his passing.
“I’ve had a love in my life… some people don’t ever have that in their lives,” Linda said. “Brian and I were married for 26 years, and I was diagnosed with complex grief because we were together for 26 years, 24/7, and that’s why I missed him so much.”
Despite her sorrow, Linda remained hopeful about finding love again. She even explored dating apps for older people in her later years, sharing, “The whole experience showed me that romance could be possible in my life again one day. It made me think it would be nice to have some male company. I’m not talking about marriage or anything like that.”
Linda’s family praised the hospital staff for their tireless care during her final days, stating, “She passed peacefully, with her loving siblings by her bedside, ensuring she was embraced with love and comfort during her final moments.” Linda’s incredible legacy as a pop legend and advocate for resilience will forever be remembered. Her life was a testament to strength, love, and hope. Rest in peace, Linda Nolan.
