Prominent Doctor Fatally Shot Outside Clinic Months After Brutal Attack

A prominent Los Angeles doctor, Dr. Hamid Mirshojae, who was well-known for treating celebrities, was tragically shot and killed in broad daylight outside his clinic on Friday. The fatal incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Warner Plaza Urgent Center, where Dr. Mirshojae, 61, was assassinated while walking to his car.

Surveillance footage, viewed by The Daily Mail, captured the harrowing moment when the doctor approached his Lexus, only to be followed and shot in the back at close range by an unknown assailant. The video shows the shooter running from the entrance of the parking lot before carrying out the attack.

Law enforcement is now appealing to the public for help in identifying the killer and uncovering a possible motive. Just a few months before this tragic incident, Dr. Mirshojae was the victim of another violent attack. He was reportedly ambushed by a group of men armed with baseball bats, a terrifying encounter that left him fearing for his life, according to clinic staff.

“They came and they beat him with baseball bats… They were some strangers that we didn’t know,” said an anonymous clinic worker. Despite the severity of the assault, no arrests were made, and the case remains under investigation. It is unclear if there is a connection between the two incidents, but investigators are thoroughly exploring both cases, told the LA Times.

An employee who reviewed the surveillance footage of Dr. Mirshojae’s final moments noted that the doctor likely had no awareness of the impending danger, as the gunman approached from behind. The employee, who had left the clinic just 15 minutes before the shooting, returned to find police at the scene and her boss’s lifeless body on the ground.

Authorities arrived at 6:12 p.m. and found Dr. Mirshojae with a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Detective Christine Moselle, leading the investigation, confirmed that no words were exchanged before the murder and that the suspect, seen in the footage, remains unidentified. The investigation is ongoing, with detectives searching Dr. Mirshojae’s belongings and history for any clues to a motive.

At the time of the shooting, Dr. Mirshojae’s wife and six-month-old baby were in Turkey. They have since returned to the U.S. His ex-wife, with whom he shared three adult children, expressed her shock and grief on social media, writing, “Hamid, the kids, and I are in so much shock we miss you so bad… They took Hamid away from us right in front of his practice.”

A public memorial service was held on Sunday, and a memorial has been created outside the clinic, with candles, flowers, and pictures honoring the beloved doctor. Members of the Woodland Hills community left messages such as “We miss you doc” and “Doc RIP.”

Dr. Mirshojae was known not only for his work in urgent and emergency care but also for treating drug and alcohol addiction. His patients included celebrities, athletes, and people from all walks of life. His ex-wife reflected on his legacy, saying, “He left the world with four beautiful children. We want to be strong in the face of evil to remember Hamid – father, husband, doctor, and friend”, reported affiliate KABC-TV.

Dr. Azin Kolahi, a dentist in Woodland Hills, expressed shock at the loss, saying, “He always had laughter on his face. Very kind, very sweet.” The Los Angeles Police Department urges anyone with information about Dr. Mirshojae’s murder or the earlier baseball bat attack to come forward. The U.S. Sun has reached out to the police department for updates on the investigation.
