King Charles Inaugurates ‘The Coronation Library’ at Flitcham Primary Academy

The Flitcham Church of England Primary Academy, nestled within the Sandringham Estate, recently had the honor of hosting King Charles for the opening of its new library, aptly named ‘The Coronation Library’ in his honor.

The visit, which took place last Friday, saw the entire school buzzing with excitement as they welcomed the King. During his visit, King Charles interacted with students, staff, and community members who played a pivotal role in the library’s creation.

Jane Gardener, the executive headteacher, expressed immense pride and honor in having His Majesty inaugurate the new library, highlighting it as a significant enhancement to the school’s resources.

The need for a dedicated library space was recognized by the Diocese of Norwich Educational Academies Trust (DNEAT), the governing body of Flitcham Primary Academy. They funded the construction of a new log cabin-style building by Anglia Log Cabins, specifically designed to serve as a library.

The Norfolk Children’s Book Centre was tasked by the school’s PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) with revamping the entire book collection and sourcing new titles to fill in the gaps. Moreover, the school’s PTA, under the leadership of Mrs. Haire, raised over £3,000 through various fundraising events. This amount was utilized for refurbishing the library and purchasing new books.

The new library has been a source of excitement for the students, who now enjoy a wider selection of fiction and non-fiction books. These books are not only for home reading but also support their classroom studies.

The spokesperson for the school added, “The Sandringham Federation of Schools is grateful for their strong ties with the local churches and the Royal Sandringham Estate, which have been instrumental in this achievement.
