What King Charles told his friends about Meghan Markle

King Charles III once held Meghan Markle in high regard, even giving her the nickname “Tungsten” to reflect her toughness and resilience. The nickname, which means “strong and unbending,” was reportedly a testament to the admiration Charles felt for Meghan after meeting her in 2017.

According to The Mirror, Charles told friends at the time, “She is so intelligent and so nice. She makes Harry happy. We could not like her more.” However, the relationship between Meghan and the royal family took a dramatic turn following her and Prince Harry’s departure from royal duties in 2020.

Reports suggest that Meghan wrote a letter to King Charles, requesting a private meeting to discuss the challenges she faced as a member of the monarchy. Royal expert Neil Sean shared on YouTube, “Meghan Markle wants some answers from His Majesty the King. She tried to set up a meeting with him, she sent him a letter, and wanted a one-to-one to explain exactly the problems she’s encountered ever since becoming a member of the British monarchy.”

One point of contention reportedly troubling Meghan is what she perceives as unequal treatment within the royal family. Sean explained that Meghan has expressed frustration over how Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, continues to use her royal title while pursuing public appearances and business ventures.

“The thing that really riles Meghan is that Fergie pops up on things like the ITV daytime show This Morning, Loose Women, and bills herself as the Duchess of York, selling books and possibly doing adverts all under the Royal Family,” Sean noted. “Meghan and Harry seemingly don’t understand why it’s a different rule for her,” he added.

The contrast in public perception and royal protocol has reportedly left Meghan feeling disillusioned. While Sarah Ferguson has maintained a degree of acceptance within royal circles despite her controversies, Meghan and Harry’s strained ties with the monarchy remain a source of tension.

As Meghan and Harry continue to navigate their lives outside the royal fold, their relationship with King Charles and the rest of the royal family remains under public scrutiny. Whether Meghan’s request for a private meeting with Charles will lead to reconciliation or further division is yet to be seen.

For now, King Charles’ past nickname for Meghan, “Tungsten,” serves as a reminder of the admiration he once had for her strength and spirit—a sentiment that has since been overshadowed by ongoing royal drama.
