Kim Kardashian Has No Chill After Finding Out the Featheringtons Are Inspired by Her Sisters

Kim Kardashian may have started watching Bridgerton a few months after the rest of us, but she’s arguably the show’s biggest fan. Her binge-watch several weeks ago (complete with white wine and lots of live posting) went viral. It’s no surprise, then, that Nicola Coughlan (a.k.a. Penelope Featherington) took notice, and she just spilled some tea on Twitter that’s made Kardashian very happy: The Featheringtons were loosely inspired by the Kardashians.

“As the world’s number one @bridgerton Stan does Kim Kardashian know that the Kardashians were a massive inspiration for the Featheringtons and we talked about them all the time during our fittings? Because I feel like she should know this,” she tweeted, to which Kardashian replied, “WHAT?!?! I am freaking out!!!!!! This tweet was sent to me on my @bridgerton group chat! Can I please come to a fitting?!?! It would make my whole life!!!!!! I love you Lady W!!!”

Coughlan actually told Glamour this in December before tweeting it out. “Penelope is old-school Khloé,” she said. “Remember Khloé used to say, ‘I’m the redheaded stepchild, and I have to do everything for everyone.’ I think that’s Penelope. But then, you know, Khloé came back and is flying high.”

She continued, “Prudence and Philipa are terrible to her. And then Lady Portia Featherington is a true Kris Jenner—the ultimate ‘momager.’ She’s very ambitious for her girls.”

Bridgerton production designer Will Hughes-Jones said of the Featherington family and Bridgerton family dynamic, “I say it’s the Kennedys versus the Kardashians. The Featheringtons are new money, so there is a more brash, flashy element to them. Whereas the Bridgertons are a bit more old-money and therefore have the historic and polite qualities you’d find in a design piece.” Hughes-Jones says the Bridgerton color palette is muted, soft, pastel colors, whereas the Featheringtons are more acidic, with bright yellows, greens, and pinks.
