Kerry Katona Receives Surprising News About Potential Pregnancy

Kerry Katona was left shocked this week when a scan revealed she still has ovarian follicles containing immature eggs. The 43-year-old former Atomic Kitten star had believed she no longer had viable eggs, and the news has left her conflicted about the possibility of having a baby with fiancé Ryan Mahoney, a topic the couple has been undecided on throughout their relationship, told Irish Mirror.

Already a mother to five children, Kerry shared her thoughts in her exclusive column: “When I went for my scan last week and got the all-clear, I was told that I’ve still got follicles – meaning I could have another baby. I don’t think I would have another one, but Ryan keeps changing his mind! If he wants another one then that’s fine, but we need to get a move on.”

However, Kerry clarified that while they are considering another child, she would not carry the baby herself. “I would never carry another child. I would get a surrogate,” she explained. The reason for this decision stems from past trauma her daughters, Molly and Lilly, experienced when she gave birth to DJ. “It was such a traumatic birth and DJ nearly died during the labor, but that got lost in communication and the girls thought that I had died. Since then, they’ve told me they couldn’t handle me having another child myself.”

Kerry is mother to Molly, 22, and Lilly, 21, from her marriage to Brian McFadden, Heidi, 17, and Max, 16, from her marriage to Mark Croft, and DJ, 10, from her marriage to the late George Kay. In February, Kerry mentioned the possibility of having more children. “If it’s something Ryan wants, I’d consider it. But it’s getting to the point where it’s now or never. I’ve thought about getting my eggs frozen this summer, as a birthday present for Ryan, then going down the surrogacy route.”

She added, “I don’t want to deprive him – in fact, I’ve given him a pass and said, ‘If this is something you want to pursue, leave me now!’ I never want someone to not have that feeling of having their own child. But I feel like I should be enough for a man. Maybe many moons ago I’d have done it for a man, but not anymore. Me and my kids should be enough for Ryan, and actually, I know we are.”

Kerry admitted that having another child is an “option” rather than a “priority” for both of them, and she suspects she is still suffering from PTSD after her daughter Dylan-Jorge spent four days on life support following her difficult birth almost ten years ago.
