Kate Middleton Faces Struggles with Cancer Treatment ‘It’s Not a Pleasant Thing’

In a candid video statement released in March, Kate Middleton shared her cancer diagnosis and announced that she would undergo a course of “preventative chemotherapy.” The revelation has since been followed by reports of the Princess of Wales facing significant challenges during her treatment.

Kate Middleton disclosed her diagnosis in a heartfelt video message posted on social media, revealing that she had undergone abdominal surgery in January 2024. She explained that, as a precautionary measure, she would be embarking on a course of preventative chemotherapy.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl provided further insight into Kate’s treatment during an interview with The Sun. Nicholl reported that the princess initially found the treatment particularly difficult.

“I’ve been told by sources very close to the Princess of Wales that she had struggled with the treatment initially. It’s preventative chemotherapy. It’s not a pleasant thing,” Nicholl said.

Nicholl elaborated on the challenges Kate faced, stating, “No one wants to have this, you know, off the back of major surgery, a pretty long recovery period, and then she has to go through the treatment. I think it was a struggle initially and I was very, very relieved to hear from actually more than one source that she has recently turned a corner.”

Encouraging news came as Kate was seen out with her children, which Nicholl described as “the most encouraging thing.” This public appearance has fueled speculation about her potential return to royal duties.

Opinions vary among royal watchers regarding Kate Middleton’s return to her official role. Some anticipate a full return, while others believe she might reduce her workload. Katie Nicholl, however, is confident that the princess will resume her duties at her own pace.

“Everything I hear is that she will be back to work,” Nicholl stated. “She’s coming back 100 percent to pick up as Princess of Wales and do the great work she was doing before. It will just be in her time when she’s ready and, crucially, when she gets the sign-off from her medical team.”

Nicholl emphasized the importance of allowing Kate the time she needs to recover fully. “She’s doing well and will be coming back to work. That is her intention,” she said, stressing that the Princess of Wales is a crucial figure in the monarchy.

The royal expert concluded, “Kate is coming back, but it will be in her own time. All of this has shown just how vital she is to the monarchy. We need her.”

“She and William are the future. Even if she doesn’t return until the end of the year, it doesn’t matter. This is the time she needs to get better so she can come back and do the important work she’s started as Princess of Wales. There’s no hurry.”

As of now, Kate Middleton continues to stay out of the public eye as she focuses on her recovery.
