Jodie Turner-Smith Reflects on Co-Parenting with Joshua Jackson After Their Split
0Jodie Turner-Smith has recently opened up about the challenges of co-parenting with her former husband, Joshua Jackson. In a candid interview for Glamour’s Woman of the Year cover story, the actress reflected on the adjustments they have had to make since their split, particularly when it comes to raising their four-year-old daughter.
“It’s an adjustment period for anyone when they split up with someone because you’re used to being with your child all the time,” Jodie shared, highlighting the emotional shift that comes with co-parenting. “But nobody hands you a manual. Everyone’s trying to figure it out,” the Dawson’s Creek alum, 45, added, speaking to the reality many parents face after separation.
The couple, who parted ways earlier this year, have been navigating the complexities of co-parenting while maintaining separate lives. Jodie noted, “Each parent has a different life, and especially if the reason why you’re splitting up is because you have different lives, it’s only further complicated by how you’re going to co-parent.”
At the time of their split, a source told PEOPLE, “She decided that she is done,” citing that the two were “on very different paths in life.” Despite their differences, both Jodie and Joshua are committed to their daughter’s well-being. “They want her to continue to thrive,” the source mentioned, emphasizing the couple’s shared goal of ensuring their daughter remains happy and healthy.
Jodie has spoken openly about how much she loves being a mother. In an appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna in June, she expressed her deep gratitude for the experience of motherhood. “It’s my favourite thing about myself — that I’m that girl’s mother,” she said, her voice filled with pride. “I’m just so grateful that she chose me to be her mom; that I got to have that gift in life.”
The actress also shared her broader thoughts on motherhood, calling it a powerful and enriching experience. “It has shifted everything about me,” Jodie explained, adding, “It has only enriched me. It has shown me, No. 1, how powerful I am. Like, whoa! It’s like, Supreme Being — wow!”
For Jodie, co-parenting may come with its challenges, but her love for her daughter and her belief in the strength of motherhood remain unwavering. As she and Joshua continue to navigate their separate lives, their focus remains on providing the best for their little girl.
