Fans and friends quickly flooded her post with messages of love and support. Among those reaching out was fellow comedian Sarah Millican, who responded with four red heart emojis, expressing her affection and solidarity. Another follower commented on the calming atmosphere in the photo, writing, “That’s a nice ground floor room, with a view of greenery and sky. Having visited several times a friend in a Marie Curie hospice, I know how caring, how relaxed the atmosphere will be. Lots of love and hugs.”
Others echoed these sentiments, sending heartfelt messages to both Godley and her family. “Sending love and especially to your family. You’re a warrior,” wrote one supporter. Another added, “Stay positive and keep smiling Janey… you are an inspiration to so many,” accompanied by a red heart emoji.
Godley, who gained viral fame with her dubbed versions of Nicola Sturgeon’s coronavirus briefings, first shared her ovarian cancer diagnosis in November 2021. After undergoing treatment, she celebrated a brief victory in 2022 when doctors declared her cancer-free, posting on X that a scan showed “no evidence of disease.”
However, the joy was short-lived. Later that year, Godley announced that another scan had revealed the cancer had returned, this time spreading to her abdomen. Despite the devastating news, she remained resilient and continued to tour, determined to bring laughter to her fans even as she faced her personal battles.
Now, as she receives palliative care, the love and admiration from her fans remain unwavering. Janey Godley’s strength and humor continue to inspire many, even in the toughest of times.
