Kate Middleton’s brother James opens up about past ‘January blues’ struggles

James Middleton, the brother of Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, has shared a heartfelt message on Instagram marking his sister’s 43rd birthday while also reflecting on the challenges and joys of life. Along with family photos, James revealed how he and his family started the New Year and discussed his personal journey in overcoming the “January blues.”

In his post, James opened up about how the winter season often affects him, saying, “The January blues used to hit me hard…and to some extent it still does – the lingering aftermath of the festive season and long dark nights mixed in with overly ambitious New Year’s resolutions mean I feel as if I’m only just about surviving and it’s only the start of the year…”

However, James shared a more positive perspective that he adopted a few years ago. Inspired by his dogs, he explained his new mantra: “Don’t spend every moment thinking of the one to come, or ones in the past. The past is imperfect, the future will be too – take each day as a new day, you can be excited about the future…the past won’t mind!”

James continued, “We started the New Year with an adventure into the mountains. We were lucky enough to be engulfed by blue skies and cold crisp air.” He also shared a heartfelt moment about his young son, Inigo, noting, “I can’t believe how quickly Inigo is growing up in fact that scares me the most…I fear if I blink I will miss it…”

Despite the challenges of time moving quickly, James reflected on the importance of making memories with his family, just like he does with his dogs. “But like with the dogs we include him in all of our adventures making memories taking each day as it comes…”

The emotional post came on the day his sister, Kate, celebrated her 43rd birthday, adding a personal touch to James’ reflections. His message was both a tribute to his family and an expression of his desire to live in the moment, making the most of the time he has with his loved ones.
