ITV’s This Morning Host Swiftly Cuts to Break After Co-Star’s ‘Shocking’ Food Confession

During a recent broadcast of ITV’s This Morning, co-host Rochelle Humes had to guide the show to a commercial break after her co-host Joel Dommett made a surprising confession about his ham-eating habits. The moment unfolded as they were joined by health expert Dr. Raj to discuss a University of Cambridge study, which revealed that consuming two slices of ham daily could increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 15 percent over a decade, according to reports from the Express.

As Dr. Raj discussed the alarming findings, he remarked, “It’s not looking good,” prompting a startled Joel to admit, “I defo have more than two a day. Oh no.” Rochelle quickly responded to Joel’s unusual snack choice, adding, “He just eats it as a snack while making a sandwich.” Joel further confessed, “I literally get the packet and I eat it in bed.”

The studio erupted in laughter as Rochelle playfully asked Dr. Raj, “What is he supposed to do, Dr. Raj, cut down on the ham?” Dr. Raj didn’t hold back, delivering the sobering advice: “Yes, Joel, I think I have to give you some bad news here. Definitely cut down on ham and don’t eat packets of it in bed, told Manchester Evening News.

We know that globally, type 2 diabetes is a pandemic, and it’s worrying with 460 million people suffering from it. Reducing your intake of ham would help with that.” Dr. Raj also offered advice to viewers, saying, “If you’ve been eating ham and are worried, don’t panic, but we should all be eating a healthy, balanced diet and reducing processed meat consumption.”

The discussion took a serious turn when Rochelle highlighted a common concern for parents, noting, “Ham sandwiches are something a lot of parents put in their children’s lunch every day.” Guest Sarah chimed in with a health warning, “We know this about ham—it’s processed meat, and it’s not very good for you.”

Joel humorously reflected on his own guilty pleasure, admitting, “I know it’s hard because it’s just so nice and salty. Sometimes I get the wafer-thin stuff and roll it up and eat it like a chocolate bar.” Sarah added that her teenage son does the same, prompting Rochelle to tease Joel, “Did you hear that? Teenager and you’re a dad.”

Laughing at himself, Joel jokingly urged, “Be an adult, be an adult.” Sensing the need to change the subject, Rochelle suggested, “Should we move on? Let’s move on and go to break and save you.” The show then transitioned to a commercial break, allowing Joel a moment to compose himself after his candid and comedic revelation.
