Prince Harry’s Emotional Plea to Delay the Announcement of Queen Elizabeth II’s Death

In the book Endgame by Omid Scobie, it’s revealed that Prince Harry “begged” the Royal Family to delay announcing Queen Elizabeth II’s death, hoping to reach Balmoral in time. The Queen passed away at the age of 96 on September 8, 2022, after 70 years on the throne. However, stormy weather delayed Harry’s plane, preventing him from arriving before the news was shared with the world.

According to the book, Buckingham Palace initially agreed to hold off on the announcement but later decided to proceed. Harry, still mid-flight, was informed of his grandmother’s passing by his father, King Charles. Upon landing, Harry reportedly received a text from Meghan Markle urging him to call her and a breaking news alert from the BBC announcing the Queen’s death, reported by the Express.

The Palace defended the timing, with a spokesperson for King Charles stating, “The public was only informed after every family member had been informed.” A source further shared that the King was “adamant” that all Royal Family members were notified before the official statement was released.

The Queen’s passing prompted an emotional response as members of the Royal Family rushed to Balmoral to be by her side. Harry, who had been scheduled to attend a charity awards ceremony in London on the same day, canceled his appearance to join his family in Scotland.

Days later, Prince Harry and Prince William, accompanied by their wives, Meghan Markle and Princess Kate, reunited for a public walkabout at Windsor Castle. The rare appearance of the “Fab Four” saw them viewing floral tributes left for the Queen, marking their first public gathering since the Platinum Jubilee in June 2022.

However, tensions between Harry and William reportedly persisted. The brothers last saw each other at a memorial service for their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in August 2023. According to The Sun, they “kept their distance” and did not interact.

Harry’s visits to the UK have been limited in recent years, including a trip in February 2023 to see King Charles and another in May for the Invictus Games. The revelations in Endgame shed light on the challenges Harry faced during one of the most significant moments in the Royal Family’s history, underscoring the complexities of his relationships within the monarchy.
