Prince Harry Reveals Daughter Lili’s Hair Secret and Talks ‘Ginger Genes

Harry Shares ‘Thick Hair’ Inheritance Update

Prince Harry recently shared a heartwarming detail about his children, Archie and Lilibet, during an appearance at the WellChild Awards. Speaking with HELLO! magazine’s Sophie Vokes-Dudgeon, Harry revealed that his kids have inherited their mother Meghan Markle’s beautiful, thick hair.

“Archie and Lili have been blessed with their mother’s thick hair,” he said, adding with a smile that it won’t be long before Lilibet will be sitting on it herself. The Duke of Sussex’s genuine enthusiasm while speaking about his children was clear, reflecting his love for fatherhood and his family.

Ahead of the awards, where he has long served as patron, Harry spoke warmly about his involvement. Sophie observed that his energy and passion for the cause were palpable, illustrating the strong bond he feels to the event and the children and families it honors.

During a separate interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Harry humorously discussed his family’s genetics. “The Spencer gene is very, very strong,” he noted, referring to his famous red hair. “I actually really, genuinely thought at the beginning of my relationship [with Meghan] that should this go the distance and we have kids that there’s no way the ginger gene will stand up to my wife’s genes, but I was wrong!”

Harry, who recently turned 40, is embracing this milestone age with enthusiasm. He shared his optimism for the decade, buoyed by friends who have told him that the 40s are the best years yet. At the WellChild Awards, he expressed his excitement about the future while also offering a humorous update on life at home with Meghan and their two young children.

According to Sophie, Harry mentioned that Meghan is busy managing not only their kids but also their three lively dogs—who still struggle with being house-trained—and their chickens. “She’s holding the fort,” he joked, showing his appreciation for his wife and his enjoyment of the event.

Emily Nash, royal editor who has accompanied Prince Harry at the awards for years, noted that he always connects with the children in attendance. “The Duke is often seen playing with the children, down on his knees, laughing and lifting their spirits,” she observed. This role has taken on even more significance for Harry since becoming a father himself, deepening his empathy and connection with the families he meets.

Prince Harry’s ongoing involvement with the WellChild Awards highlights his dedication to making a positive impact, and his openness about family life offers a glimpse into the joys and challenges he and Meghan navigate together.
