Prince Harry Returns to Meghan Markle After Brief UK Visit Amid Royal Tensions
0Prince Harry has concluded his brief visit to the UK and is now en route to Nigeria to reunite with his wife, Meghan Markle, following a highly publicized but solitary engagement in London, told Express. His departure marks the end of a visit that underscored ongoing tensions within the Royal Family, as no meetings with royal relatives occurred during his stay.
Harry’s trip was centered around commemorating the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Interestingly, this significant event took place while his father, King Charles, hosted a garden party just two miles away at Buckingham Palace. A statement released earlier in the week clarified that a meeting between father and son was not possible due to the King’s “full programme of official duties.“
The Duke of Sussex, aged 39, also did not see his brother, Prince William, during his visit. This absence of familial interactions comes despite Harry’s quick return to the UK in February following the news of Charles’ cancer diagnosis.
Regarding potential meetings with his father, Harry’s spokesman stated: “In response to the many inquiries on whether or not the Duke will meet with his father while in the UK, it Âunfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme. The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon”, via Daily Record.
Commenting on the situation, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams remarked, “It’s a very difficult situation at the moment and it’s completely unprecedented. I think people thought Harry and the King would have found the time to meet each other. I think what’s developing here is something that had not been expected but there is logic to it. I think that this and the appointment of William as Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps is about timing.” Fitzwilliams added, “The only way for the rift to be healed is in private.”
During the anniversary event at St. Paul’s, Harry was notably unaccompanied by other members of the Royal Family. His presence starkly contrasted with the launch of the Invictus Games in 2014, which was attended by Charles, Camilla, and William. Since stepping back as working royals in 2020 and relocating to California with their children, Archie and Lilibet, Harry’s relations with his family have become visibly strained.
