Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity drops in USA

The popularity of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the United States has reportedly waned, according to insights shared by a royal commentator. Angela Levin, in a discussion with The Sun, pointed out that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s perceived contradictions and recurrent critiques of the royal family have not only alienated audiences in the UK but have also impacted their standing among the American public.

Levin highlighted instances that she believes demonstrate a gap between the couple’s expressed desire for privacy and their continued presence in the public eye, particularly at events that offer significant media exposure. This behavior, she argues, contradicts their stated wish for a more private life, leading to accusations of hypocrisy.

The royal expert recalled a specific incident involving a portrayal of the couple in the animated series South Park, which she suggests exemplifies the public’s growing skepticism towards their actions and intentions. According to Levin, the Sussexes’ approach, which she views as driven by a desire for retribution, has significantly undermined their opportunities for a favorable public image, leaving little room for rehabilitation in the public’s eye.

This perspective suggests a deepening rift between the couple’s public persona and the expectations or desires of their audience, both in the UK and the US.

“I think endless moaning puts off Americans because they like people who are go-getters rather than those who blame everyone else,” the journalist shared.  She added, “They also don’t like the attacks on the Royal Family especially as they so loved and admired the Queen.”

Supporting Levin’s observations, a poll conducted by Newsweek aimed to gauge the current popularity of Harry and Meghan among the American populace. The findings revealed a discernible decline in their favorability, with only 30% of Americans expressing a positive view of Meghan, while Harry fared slightly better at 42%. These figures reflect a notable shift in public sentiment towards the couple, indicating a potential reassessment of their image and influence in the United States.

This changing perception of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the US underscores the complexities of maintaining a favorable public image, especially when navigating the intricate dynamics of privacy, public engagement, and the legacy of royal affiliations. The commentary and poll results suggest that the couple’s actions and the public’s response to them continue to evolve, shaping their popularity and influence on both sides of the Atlantic.
