Prince Harry Conveys Deep Emotions in Letter Reflecting on the Loss of a Parent

Prince Harry has penned a heartfelt letter addressing the profound grief of losing a parent ahead of Remembrance Sunday, expressing solidarity with bereaved military children.

The Duke of Sussex, who lost his mother, Princess Diana, in a tragic car crash when he was 12, shared the letter with the young members of Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

Acting as the charity’s first-ever Global Ambassador, Prince Harry has been involved with Scotty’s since 2017. The charity, founded by Nikki Scott, provides support to bereaved military children.

Scott expressed her excitement about Prince Harry’s new role, highlighting his personal experience as a bereaved child and his service in the British Armed Forces, including a deployment to Afghanistan, told Daily Mail.

“We are really excited Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex is joining Scotty’s as a Global Ambassador,” said Scott. “He’s supported Scotty’s for a number of years, and having been bereaved as a child himself and having served in the British Armed Forces, including deploying to Afghanistan, Prince Harry resonates with our members.”

Scott emphasized the Duke’s ability to connect with and understand the challenges faced by bereaved military children, adding that his high-profile position would help raise awareness for the charity, expanding its reach to support more children who have lost a parent in the British Armed Forces.

In a virtual appearance during the Stand Up for Heroes show at the Lincoln Center in New York City, Prince Harry showcased his comedic side, making light-hearted jokes about his hair color and the public scrutiny he faces. However, he seamlessly transitioned into a more serious message, championing the military community and reinforcing his commitment to supporting those who have served.
