Prince Harry’s Candid Response to Brother William’s Potential Reaction
0Prince Harry has acknowledged that his memoir Spare is likely to upset his brother, Prince William. During an interview with Tom Bradby in 2023 to promote the book, the Duke of Sussex admitted that he realizes how the revelations in his memoir would hurt his brother.
Bradby asked Harry, “Wouldn’t your brother say to you, ‘Harry, how could you do this to me after everything we went through?'” to which Harry responded, “He would probably say all sorts of different things.”
The brothers’ famously strained relationship and their altercation were central themes in Spare. In the memoir, Harry described a physical confrontation with William, sharing details of the incident. “He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast.
So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripped my necklace, and knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
The confrontation continued with William allegedly telling Harry, “You don’t need to tell Meg about this,” to which Harry responded, “‘You mean that you attacked me?’ William replied: ‘I didn’t attack you, Harold.’”
These revelations have added to the ongoing tension between Harry and William, and it is clear from his comments that Harry understands the emotional impact his memoir will have on his brother. Despite the difficult nature of the subject matter, Harry’s openness about their relationship and the conflict they’ve experienced has sparked significant public attention and debate.
