Harry and Meghan’s New Docuseries Slammed as ‘Tedious,’ ‘Mostly Boring,’ and ‘Destined for Obscurity’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new docuseries, which aims to capture the spirit of polo in the United States, has failed to impress American critics. Despite the couple’s efforts to spotlight the sport, the show has been met with negative feedback, with many calling it unengaging and uninspired.

In an article for The Cut, writer Danielle Lee Cohen shared her thoughts on the docuseries, stating, “Personally, I haven’t felt compelled to watch Polo, but according to critics, it is ‘tedious,’ ‘mostly boring,’ and ‘destined to fall through the submenus into obscurity at the speed of light.’

Yikes.” The criticism has been harsh, with many expressing disappointment over the show’s lack of appeal. Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex co-produced the series, Cohen suggests that it seems more like Harry’s personal project.

As a longtime polo player, Harry reportedly had a vision for the show, but neither he nor Meghan feature prominently in the series, which has added to the dissatisfaction. Cohen added, “Though the couple co-produced the show, it seems to have been more of Harry’s pet project — he’s a longtime polo player and apparently ‘had a vision’ — but neither he nor his wife appear much in the series at all, eliciting even more criticism. I hope her cooking show goes better?”

The release of the docuseries comes after Prince Harry and Meghan made headlines with their departure from the British Royal Family in 2020. The couple later accused the Royal Family of racism toward their son, Prince Archie, and publicly shared their grievances in an interview.

The family now resides in California, where they also welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet. Despite their efforts to branch out into new projects, the negative reception of their polo docuseries highlights the challenges Harry and Meghan face in carving out a successful career in the entertainment industry.
