Gorka Marquez Breaks Down in Tears After Gemma Atkinson’s Devastating Health Scare
Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka Marquez became visibly emotional after his fiancée, Gemma Atkinson, revealed a frightening health scare, reported by the Manchester Evening News. The Hits Radio host shared with listeners that she had discovered a lump in her breast and had undergone a mammogram and ultrasound to check for any serious concerns.
During her radio show, Atkinson, 40, opened up about the experience, saying, “I found a little lump in my boob about two months ago,” and decided to seek medical advice. She even asked Marquez’s Strictly partner from this year, TV doctor Punam Krishnan, to take a look at the lump when she first noticed it. “I actually at one point asked Dr. Punam to check,” Atkinson said. “The first time I met Punam in rehearsals… ‘Hi, nice to meet you. Please can you look at this?'”
Atkinson explained that after undergoing the tests, she received reassuring news from her doctor. “They did a mammogram and an ultrasound, then I had to do that wait in the waiting room. But she just called me and literally, her words were, ‘No concerns, no worries, nothing sinister, just a little cyst,’ and I want [sigh with relief]. Because not everyone’s as lucky”, reported GB News.
When co-host Mike Toolan asked how Marquez was holding up during the ordeal, Atkinson revealed that the dancer had been in tears. “No, of course he wasn’t,” Atkinson laughed. “He cries at everything, Gorka. They started asking me about Mia and Thiago while I had my hand over my head and I just heard [sniffles] and I popped my head around and I went, ‘What you crying for?’ He went, ‘I don’t know! Is she going to be okay?'”
Despite the emotional moment, Atkinson assured everyone that all was well. “But yeah, I’m all good. All is well,” she said. The radio station shared the emotional moment on Instagram, where Atkinson urged her followers to take care of their health, writing: “Always check your boobies!”
Taking to her Instagram Story, Atkinson thanked the staff at Bolton NHS Hospital, adding, “I felt very lucky last week. If ever anyone feels worried, please go get checked.” Fans and followers appreciated her honesty and urged others to do the same.
