Gloria Hunniford Turns Her Home Into a Festive Wonderland as She Faces First Christmas Without Husband

Gloria Hunniford is embracing the holiday spirit to find comfort during her first Christmas without her husband, Stephen Way, who passed away in August after a long illness. The 84-year-old Loose Women star has transformed her home into a dazzling display of lights, describing it as “like Blackpool Illuminations.”

Sharing her journey with Best magazine, Gloria revealed that decorating her home brought a glimmer of joy amid the sorrow. “My house is already like Blackpool Illuminations,” she said. “There is a gardener at Hever Castle called Michael, who came round to help me. It’s all done and up. I’m glad that I did it. I’m the first in the road to do it.”

Reflecting on Christmases past, Gloria recalled creating joyful memories even after losing her daughter, Caron Keating, in 2004. “We even had six trees one year,” she reminisced, showing her determination to keep the festive spirit alive, reported by OK! Magazine.

This year, Gloria’s son Michael is organizing “three days of celebrating” to bring the family together, including Caron’s sons, Gabriel and Charlie. Despite the loss of her husband, Gloria finds solace in her family. “He always stayed with me,” she said of Stephen. “You can imagine what a difference it will be, but my son Michael has organized three days of celebrating, and both of Caron’s boys will be with me. When a door closes, a window opens.”

In the months since Stephen’s passing, Gloria has also reflected on life’s resilience. Just ten days after his death, she attended her grandson Charlie’s wedding. “I was determined it would be a joyous day,” she shared. “I must remember I can go to events and be happy.”

Gloria and Stephen shared 25 years of marriage, and his passing has left a profound void in her life. “Stephen was a gentleman and a giant of a man, who will leave the most enormous void not only in my life but our entire family,” she said. “He was incredibly kind, generous, and caring, with a delightfully quirky sense of humor, which remained till the end.”

While this holiday season will be unlike any other, Gloria’s strength and dedication to her family shine as she honors her husband’s memory and continues to spread festive cheer. “A bright shining light has dimmed, and he shall be missed at every turn,” she said.
