Gethin Jones Shares Emotional Farewell to BBC Colleague Adam Russell

MORNING Live presenter Gethin Jones has shared an emotional farewell to one of his colleagues, Adam Russell, who is leaving the BBC. Gethin, 46, took to Instagram to praise Adam in a touching post, thanking him for all his hard work. Adam, who worked as a researcher on Morning Live, first shared a selfie of himself and Gethin, confirming his departure from the BBC morning show.

“Emotional goodbye (for now),” Adam wrote alongside the picture, which the Welsh presenter then reposted. Adam also uploaded a photo with Gethin’s co-presenter Helen Skelton, captioning it: “And this one,” with a teary-eyed emoji.

Adding his own words to the first photo, Gethin said: “Will miss this man on the BBC Morning Live team. Supremely talented, attention to detail is insane, with the calmness required to make live telly. Oh and studying for a degree at the same time.”

Gethin praised his colleague for juggling degree studies while working on the show. Adam recently graduated from the University of Salford with a BA in TV and Radio Production.

Although it’s unclear where Adam is headed now that he’s moving on from the BBC, it seems his career is progressing positively. Gethin, too, is making career moves. After posting his sweet farewell to Adam on his Instagram Story, Gethin shared a video about an exciting new work opportunity he’s recently taken on.

“So I’ve been a busy boy this week. I’ve been at Morning Live in the morning and then I’ve been heading over here to 5 Live to cover Nihal [Arthanayake]’s show from 1 to 4,” the Welsh star explained. Regular 5 Live presenter Nihal, 53, is currently on holiday in Sri Lanka, while Gethin takes over his afternoon show.

Gethin continued: “It’s pretty cool doing both, it’s just the way the dates have worked out, actually. Morning Live is off-air next week, so I’m here at 5 Live all week, which is great.”

However, he mentioned that the radio show requires “very different skills” from Morning Live. “Morning Live [I’m] reading really, really fast. 5 Live [is] a lot of breaking news, but the ability to have a long chat. So have a listen from 1 to 4, some great guests,” he teased at the end of the video.

Gethin’s heartfelt goodbye to Adam highlights the strong bonds formed behind the scenes of Morning Live and reflects the bittersweet nature of career transitions.
