GB News Interrupted for ‘Record-Breaking News’ as Keir Starmer Hit with Second Major Blow

GB News was suddenly cut short mid-broadcast after a dramatic announcement, delivering what’s being seen as another major blow to Keir Starmer’s leadership. The interruption came just as political commentator Andy Williams was in full swing, discussing the rising number of people arriving in Britain illegally — reportedly around 30,000 since Labour came to power.

During the heated discussion, Williams argued that scrapping the Rwanda deportation plan wasn’t the disaster some have made it out to be. In fact, he claimed it never would’ve worked in the first place, according to the Express.

But former Chief Immigration Officer at UK Border Force, Kevin Saunders, wasn’t having it. He fired back, saying: “I don’t agree, the Labour party have made a complete and utter hash of this. The Home Office were ready to go to Rwanda; Home Office internal research had shown that the Rwanda scheme would have made a difference. It was a big mistake to cancel it.”

The debate came on the heels of yet another headache for Starmer’s government — a diplomatic stumble involving a leaked conversation about U.S. military operations in Yemen. It’s forced Labour officials to insist that Britain’s security relationship with the United States remains rock solid, despite the misstep.

The back-and-forth on GB News highlighted just how divided opinion remains over how to tackle the Channel crossings, with critics slamming the government’s current approach as ineffective, while others argue the previous plans were more about headlines than actual results.

The timing couldn’t be worse for Starmer, who’s now facing growing pressure on multiple fronts. Between the surge in migrant arrivals and the fallout from the security gaffe, questions are being asked about whether Labour can hold its footing on matters of national importance.

While the segment on GB News was cut for breaking news, the clash of opinions left viewers with plenty to talk about — and for Starmer, it’s yet another PR storm to weather.
