Gabby Logan Drops Bombshell Confession About Her 23-Year Marriage to Husband Kenny”
0TV presenter Gabby Logan has candidly revealed how perimenopause affected her marriage to former rugby player Kenny Logan, sharing that the hormonal changes left her feeling unlike herself and at times turned her into what she describes as a “shouty woman.” Married for 23 years, Gabby, 51, and Kenny, 52, have weathered the ups and downs together, raising their 19-year-old twins, Reuben and Lois.
In an interview with MailOnline, Gabby opened up about her experience with perimenopause, which began when she was 47. At the time, she didn’t realize what she was going through until a doctor’s visit and a blood test confirmed it was the onset of menopause. Reflecting on those challenging years, Gabby explained how her temperament dramatically changed, much to the confusion of her husband, Kenny, who was used to her normally mellow demeanor.
“I look back now and think, ‘Oh, that’s why I was like that,’” Gabby admitted. “It just felt like I was getting really ratty about stuff, really quickly, that previously wouldn’t have bothered me.” She described how the combination of dealing with teenagers and her hormonal shifts created a “perfect storm.”
“There’s a perfect storm because you’ve got teenagers who can be quite annoying, and then you’ve got mum whose attention and temper are on a thread,” Gabby said, recalling how small things would set her off unexpectedly. She now feels embarrassed about how short-tempered she was at times, but recognizes it was the result of the perimenopause.
Despite the challenges, Gabby expressed her gratitude for the patience her family showed during that time, especially her husband Kenny. “My kids and my husband were actually really tolerant. My husband was probably thinking, ‘Why is she getting so up about this?’ This probably wasn’t the person that he married.”
Since coming to terms with her perimenopause and receiving the support she needed, Gabby shared that she’s “so much calmer now” and better able to handle situations without losing her temper. She even joked that her husband is “very grateful” for her newfound sense of calm.
Her personal journey through perimenopause has inspired Gabby to write The Midpoint Plan, a book based on her popular podcast The Midpoint. In the book, she discusses various aspects of entering middle age, including mental health, hormones, midlife crises, and the importance of physical exercise.
Gabby’s podcast, launched in 2021 during the Covid lockdown, became a space where she and her guests could discuss their own midlife challenges, and it proved to be a great source of comfort for her during her own difficult time. “Talking to other well-known faces about their midlife challenges – including actor Jill Halfpenny and DJ Adele Roberts – definitely helped my mental health,” she shared.
Through her book and podcast, Gabby hopes to offer advice and support to others navigating the complexities of middle age, showing that while challenges like perimenopause can feel overwhelming, they can be overcome with understanding, support, and a sense of humor.
