A Kick in the Bullocks as Farmers Warn of Food Shortages After Chancellor’s Budget on Good Morning Britain

Amid the usual mix of news and morning banter, ITV’s Good Morning Britain experienced a moment of humor as Adil Ray read from The Sun, capturing attention with a bold headline. “Farmers are outraged and have warned of massive destruction and possible food shortages after the chancellor’s budget,” Adil read. With a grin, he added, “With their headline ‘A kick in the bullocks”, told the Manchester Evening News.

Quick to respond, co-host Kate Garraway gently teased Adil on his choice of words, saying, “You have to be careful how you say that!” to which Adil replied with a laugh, “Yeah, I had it rehearsed in my head for a while.”

Once through the linguistic humor, Adil and Kate invited former MPs Nadine Dorries and Caroline Flint to discuss the chancellor’s budget and its implications, especially the £22.6 billion NHS boost over the next two years, told the Mirror. The conversation soon turned personal when Adil brought up a recent column by Nadine. “Wes Streeting has already spoken about spending money on weight loss drugs. You’ve been writing this week, Nadine, that you spent three months on Mounjaro. That’s one of the jabs called a ‘King-Kong’ of weight loss drugs,” he said.

The frank discussion that followed revealed Nadine’s personal health journey. She explained her doctor’s concerns about her health, saying, “My first phone call was to tell me that I was pre-diabetic, the second phone call was to tell me that nothing had changed; I was actually more pre-diabetic and really needed to get 12 pounds off as quickly as I could.” Kate expressed surprise, sympathetically adding, “You didn’t ever look especially overweight though, Nadine.”

As Nadine shared her experience, the conversation took a lighter turn when an outdated photo of her appeared on-screen. Laughing, she clarified, “That’s not one, no. That’s 12 years old, that photograph!” The unexpected image sparked laughter, with Kate sheepishly apologizing, “Oh, I’m sorry. I’m sorry about that; that’s the picture for some reason we have.”

Despite the minor on-air mix-up, Nadine continued her story, sharing how she successfully shed nearly two stone and is no longer pre-diabetic, though her cholesterol did rise slightly during treatment.

The segment, blending policy with personal stories, highlighted not only the weight of government decisions on public services like the NHS but also individual health journeys—offering a mix of serious insights and light-hearted moments on the ITV show.
