Eamonn Holmes Stands by Ellie Costello After Emotional ‘I’m Ashamed’ Confession on GB News
Eamonn Holmes shared some light-hearted yet supportive words for his co-star Ellie Costello after she made a humorous confession on GB News Breakfast. The exchange took place on Tuesday, January 14, as Ellie opened up about an embarrassing moment related to her overflowing bins.
During the program, Eamonn spoke about a bin strike in Birmingham, expressing his support for the workers. Reflecting on his own experience, he shared that he once spent two weeks working as a bin man for a TV program and was shocked by how “filthy” people could be. He said, “Absolutely filthy. People dump mattresses on the side of the road, people drop all kinds of awfulness into their bins and beyond. You don’t want to know”, reported by the Express.
Ellie, 31, chimed in with a confession about her own waste management challenges. “My bins are always overflowing, they don’t come often enough,” she admitted. The presenter explained that she often had to stand on her bins to get them closed, especially because of the cardboard boxes from her frequent online orders.
The moment turned more relatable when Ellie shared a story that left her a bit ashamed. “Do you know what I did the other day which I am ashamed to say, when I got in the taxi at 3 o’clock in the morning, I took a load of recycling and put it in the neighbor’s bin in the middle of the night,” she revealed.
Eamonn quickly reassured her, saying, “What they don’t know won’t hurt them,” though he humorously added that they might know now, given the public nature of the confession.
Ellie’s candid admission came after she recently replaced Isabel Webster on GB News. Isabel, who had co-hosted GB News Breakfast with Eamonn since the show’s launch in 2022, was unexpectedly let go in a channel shake-up. Ellie now co-hosts the show alongside Eamonn on Monday through Wednesday and Stephen Dixon on Thursdays and Fridays.
On January 5, Eamonn shared his excitement about the new lineup on social media, posting a photo of him and Ellie behind the desk. “New Year, a new day and a new Breakfast line up on @GBNews.
