Eamonn Holmes Slams Phillip Schofield as He Makes Bold Return with Survival Show
0As Phillip Schofield prepares for an unexpected return to television in a tough new survival show, the spotlight is once again on his former This Morning colleague, Eamonn Holmes, who didn’t hold back his thoughts when Schofield exited amid scandal.
Schofield, once one half of daytime TV’s most beloved duo alongside Holly Willoughby, found his career unraveling in May 2023. The 62-year-old presenter left This Morning after admitting to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a much younger colleague. The fallout was swift, with Schofield stepping away from all public-facing roles, his friendship with Holly seemingly in tatters.
Eamonn Holmes, 64, who had worked with Schofield at ITV, didn’t mince words following the controversy. After Schofield’s departure, Holmes took to social media to share his pointed feelings. “Schofield has finally been caught out,” Eamonn wrote in a scathing post. He went further, slamming both Schofield and Willoughby, suggesting their relationship was far from what it seemed. “They deserve each other,” he said, referencing Holly’s remarks about the couch not being the same without Schofield. Eamonn retorted, “She wanted him not there. So what is she moaning about?”
Despite the harsh words from his former colleague, Schofield is making his return to television in a surprising new role. Stepping away from the comfort of a studio, he will be appearing in a Channel 5 survival show, where he’ll spend 10 days alone on a desert island with no food, water, or crew.
In a teaser for the show, Schofield shared his excitement and reflections, saying, “Now you know how I spent my summer! Alone for 10 days, no food, no water, no crew. My story of survival, both on a desert island and off it.” He acknowledged this was a deeply personal project, one that appealed to him on many levels: “I’ve recently had a lot of time to think about my life, what went right and what went wrong.”
Without the safety of friends or family, Schofield admitted this challenge was unlike anything he had faced. “This time it’s just me, no phone, no comforts, no crew, and only lip balm as a luxury.”
As Schofield prepares to share his “story of survival,” both in the wild and through the recent turbulence in his personal and professional life, fans are left to wonder if this new chapter will mark a fresh start—or just another twist in his dramatic journey.
