Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford Tackle Their Split Amid Stress Warnings

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, long considered one of television’s most enduring couples, are reportedly working to finalize their divorce later this year. However, a relationship expert has cautioned that rushing the process could lead to “additional stress” for the pair, who announced their separation in May after 14 years of marriage.

The split shocked fans, especially as the couple shares a 22-year-old son. Eamonn, 65, has since moved on with relationship counselor Katie Alexander, 42, while Ruth, also 65, is believed to be focusing on herself. According to a source quoted by The Sun, Eamonn is eager “for a fresh start” in 2025 with his new partner.

On World Divorce Day, relationship expert Chloé Moreau of ExpertsEnRencontres shared insights into the potential challenges of a swift divorce. “Fast-tracking a divorce can certainly bring closure and allow individuals to move on with their lives,” she said. “For Eamonn, the desire to start a new chapter with his partner may be motivating this approach, while for Ruth, it may provide an opportunity to establish stability and focus on her own path forward.”

However, Moreau warned of potential downsides to rushing the process. “Divorce is not just a legal transition — it’s an emotional one, and rushing through the process may leave unresolved feelings or create additional stress,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of addressing emotional and practical concerns to avoid long-term conflict.

Despite their separation, both Eamonn and Ruth have publicly handled the situation with grace. Ruth recently broke her silence on the matter during a discussion on Loose Women about how divorced parents should behave at family events. “I think it’s very selfish when you hear parents say, ‘Well if they are divorced, then I’m not coming to your wedding if he’s coming,’ or ‘If she is there.’ I just think it’s so selfish because it is their day,” she remarked.

Fellow panelist Mariella Frostrup quipped, “That’s a whole other subject, isn’t it? How to divorce well.” Ruth humorously replied, “Oh, tell me about it,” sparking laughter from the audience.

Eamonn, meanwhile, has expressed gratitude to his supporters on his GB News show. Following the split’s public announcement, he thanked viewers for their kind messages, showing his determination to move forward with dignity.

While the couple works through the process, experts like Moreau stress the importance of finding a fair settlement and navigating the emotional complexities thoughtfully. With careful handling, their new chapters could be a fresh start rather than a source of prolonged tension.
