Eamonn Holmes Reacts to Farmers Protesting Labour’s Tax Laws with Powerful Words

GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes expressed frustration and disbelief, saying, “Words fail me,” after viewing footage of farmers protesting against Labour’s new tax laws introduced by Rachel Reeves.

“Politicians say they’re the friends of farmers, [but] I say, ‘Prove it!'” Holmes declared, empathizing with their plight during the broadcast. Viewers also heard from Gareth, a farmer from Snowdonia, who issued a grim warning about potential food shortages in the near future.

Rachel Reeves claims her proposed inheritance tax policies would affect only 20% of farms, but Gareth suggested the impact could be as high as 70%. “When there’s no food on the shelves, the public will understand,” he cautioned, reported by the Express.

Gareth revealed that he, along with other farmers, plans to strike by withholding lamb and beef sales this week and will participate in a protest in London on Tuesday.

The discussion also touched on broader concerns, with another guest arguing that efforts to meet Net Zero targets risk “impoverishing” the British public.

Holmes’ impassioned remarks and the farmers’ warnings have highlighted growing tensions between the agricultural community and policymakers.
