Eamonn Holmes Says Emotional Goodbye to Isabel Webster After GB News Shake-Up
0Eamonn Holmes bid an emotional farewell to his co-host Isabel Webster after it was announced she would be leaving GB News Breakfast. The 65-year-old presenter, who regularly hosted alongside Isabel, took to social media to share his sadness over the news.
The surprising shake-up sees Isabel replaced by Ellie Costello starting January. A GB News spokesperson confirmed: “Ellie Costello will now co-host GBN Breakfast five days a week, presenting alongside Eamonn Holmes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and with Stephen Dixon on Thursday and Friday. Stephen and Anne Diamond will continue to co-present GB News Breakfast at weekends”, reported by the Daily Mail.
In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), the channel wrote: “@IsabelWebster_ has also departed GB News. She presented her final Breakfast show alongside @EamonnHolmes this morning. GBN Updates wishes her the best for the future.”
Eamonn quickly responded with a touching message, writing: “Bye my girl,” accompanied by a kiss emoji, showing his fondness for his departing colleague.
The news comes during a turbulent year for Eamonn, who recently announced his split from long-time partner Ruth Langsford. Fans were shocked to hear the couple, married for over a decade, were heading for divorce. Despite their separation, Eamonn and Ruth have maintained public displays of mutual support, particularly during difficult personal moments.
Earlier this week, Ruth revealed that her mother, Joan, had suffered a fall and fractured her pelvis. Sharing a heartfelt post on Instagram alongside a photo of her holding her mother’s hand, Ruth wrote: “No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling Mum this Christmas… she’s had a fall and fractured her pelvis!”
Eamonn showed his support by liking Ruth’s post, later sharing his own emotional reflection about his late mother: “When folk ask me, ‘What do u want for Christmas?’ Three Christmases without u now Mum, and you are still top of my wish list.”
Meanwhile, Isabel Webster, in her farewell message, shared a photo with Eamonn on Instagram, writing: “Final show from us for 2024. Thanks for your company this year. See you soon! Merry Christmas – I hope you all find some peace and joy.” Ruth, in a sign of continued goodwill, liked the post, just days before the former couple are set to spend Christmas apart for the first time.
While Isabel’s departure marks the end of a chapter for GB News Breakfast, Eamonn’s emotional goodbye showed just how close their on-air partnership had become.
