Eamonn Holmes’ dislike for Phillip Schofield caused marriage crisis?

Eamonn Holmes’ intense disdain for Phillip Schofield is said to have played a pivotal role in the dynamics of his marriage to Ruth Langsford, which recently ended after 14 years. Despite the marital breakdown, Holmes reportedly harbors no regrets about his public outbursts against Schofield, which have stirred significant controversy within showbiz circles.

Sources close to Holmes told the Daily Mail that his vocal criticisms of Schofield and ITV, where both men worked, only intensified as his relationship with Ruth deteriorated. The broadcaster’s outspoken nature reportedly left Ruth dismayed, especially since she continues to appear on ITV’s Loose Women.

The couple announced their split in May, citing diverging work commitments that led them in different directions. Holmes, following the split, has been spotted holidaying with his new partner, Katie Alexander, indicating a move forward in his personal life.

An insider revealed that Holmes’ animosity towards Schofield had been long-standing but became exceedingly public towards the end of his marriage. “Eamonn’s dislike for Phillip existed for a long time, but it became very public at the end of his marriage to Ruth. And as his hatred for him and ITV grew, the cracks in their relationship grew deeper,” the source explained.

Ruth, still a prominent figure on Loose Women, found herself in an awkward position due to Eamonn’s repeated negative comments about ITV, particularly after the couple was removed from their roles on This Morning. “Ruth wasn’t over the moon about it. But given she was still a cemented member of the Loose Women family, it made things somewhat awkward for her to have Eamonn criticizing ITV. But Eamonn loathes Phillip and has no regrets about what he said and certainly doesn’t think he threw him under the bus,” added the source.

Despite these tumultuous events, another source insisted that it would be incorrect to attribute the dissolution of Holmes’ marriage solely to his comments about Schofield or his issues with ITV. The complexities of their relationship and external work pressures also played significant roles.

As the fallout continues, it’s clear that Holmes feels vindicated in expressing his views, regardless of the personal or professional cost. His feud with Schofield has not only captivated public attention but has also underscored the often-intense personal dynamics that can exist behind the scenes in television.
