Duchess of Cambridge Promises to Wear ‘princess costume’ for young girl

The Duchess of Cambridge has promised to wear her “princess costume” to meet with a young girl with Leukaemia.

Catherine spoke on the phone to four-year-old Mila back in August, after she was one of 100 finalists who shared their experiences of life during COVID-19 by submitting an image to the royal’s ‘Hold Still’ photography project.

And on Thursday (06.05.21), their phone call was shared on Catherine’s newly launched YouTube channel, which she shares with her husband, the Duke of Cambridge.
During the call, Mila asked Catherine – who was known as Kate Middleton before marrying Prince William – if she has a “costume”, to which the duchess responded: “I’m not wearing a princess costume right now, I’m afraid, Mila.”

However, Catherine then vowed to put on her best “pink dress” for Mila if the pair get the chance to meet when lockdown restrictions are lifted.

She added: “I have to make sure I go and try to find myself a pink dress. Hopefully, when one day, hopefully, Mila, we’ll get to meet, and then I’ll remember to wear my pink dress for you.”

The duchess also spoke to Mila and her mother Lynda about the photo they submitted to the photography project, which showed the little girl waving to her dad from the other side of a window.

Mila and Lynda had to isolate away from Mila’s father, Scott, and big sister, Jodi, to protect Mila while she was receiving chemotherapy for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, as her condition put her at a higher risk of developing complications from COVID-19.

And Lynda told Catherine it was actually her own mother who encouraged her to send in the snap.

Catherine said: “I’m very grateful. And also for sharing such a personal time. You know, it’ll be an image that is part of a national archive, and you know, it tells a story of this particular time and a very personal story too, so thank you so much for sharing it.”
