Dolly Parton Said No Thanks to a Tea Invite from Kate Middleton

On her recent visit to London, Dolly Parton made a surprising revelation that she had to decline an invitation from Kate Middleton for a rather amusing reason.

In a candid chat on BBC Radio 2, Dolly Parton, the queen of country music, shared that while in London to promote her newest rock album, she received a charming invite for tea from Princess Kate. However, the 77-year-old joked about her reason for saying no: “She wasn’t going to promote my rock album, so I had to decline.”

The acclaimed 9-to-5 singer expressed her fondness for London, saying, “I love the people, the feel of London.” Yet, she mentioned that her tight schedules during business trips often prevent her from exploring and enjoying the city to the fullest – hence the need to decline the royal invite.

Dolly’s much-anticipated venture into rock is set to release this November, marking a notable shift from her country roots. Notably, one track in the upcoming album is a rendition of the classic, “Let It Be,” in which she collaborates with the last surviving Beatles members, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

In a heartwarming exchange on Twitter, Dolly posed a rhetorical question, “Does it get any better than singing ‘Let It Be’ with @PaulMcCartney who wrote the song? And the fact he played the piano?” This elicited a response from the Beatles icon who retweeted her post and thanked her, saying, “Thanks Dolly for doing my song. I love your version and am very pleased to be by your side on this one. Rock on! Love, Paul.”

The revamped version of the timeless song has already created a buzz among fans. Many took to social media to share their enthusiasm. One fan remarked on the duo’s “beautiful harmonies,” while another expressed gratitude, saying, “Dolly, Paul, Ringo, Mick, Peter – what an incredible rendition of such a legendary song. Thank you for the beautiful version of Let It Be. It brightened my day. Peace and Love to all!”
